A tireless advocate for children, Ashonta Rice has spent sixteen years as a Child Representative and Guardian ad litem as the founding partner in a highly sought after private family law practice and as an Assistant Public Guardian for the Cook County Office of The Public Guardian. Rice is recognized for delivering justice when all other options have been exhausted. She is particularly known for successfully litigating complaints in circuit court after all administrative hearings have failed with prior counsel.

Rice is a Chicago Bar Association sanctioned Child Representative and Guardian ad litem. She is routinely appointed by the Cook County Circuit Court to serve as Child Representative and Guardian ad litem in some of the most contentious and complex cases.

Rice received a B.A. in Finance from University of Illinois Champaign, a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, and a certificate in Divorce Mediation Skills from Northwestern University School of Professional Studies.

Rice was recognized as one of the10 Best Attorneys for Exceptional and Outstanding Client Service by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys three years in a row – 2018, 2019, 2020. She is often called upon for her expertise to speak as a panelist including for the Illinois State Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education programs.
